In Zambia’s tobacco-growing districts of Chipangali and Lumezi, child labor has historically been intertwined with rural livelihoods.
Today, meaningful change is taking shape through ARISE – JTI’s comprehensive initiative aimed at eliminating child labor by emphasizing education, socio-economic empowerment, and active community participation.
ARISE aims to end child labor in communities where JTI sources tobacco leaf. We work with those directly affected and with others who have the power to change things. Our initiatives are developed and delivered in collaboration with tobacco-growing communities, social partners and governments.
